Islamabad: The Millennium University
College (TMUC) Pakistan and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
(ACCA) Pakistan organised a career symposium for ACCA students and affiliates
from the Islamabad region providing them training opportunities.
Around 280 ACCA Students and Affiliates sat
through interviews for training opportunities offered by employers namely
Meezan Bank, First Microfinance Bank, Khushali Microfinance Bank, S&P
Global, Ufone and Islamabad Recruitment Company.
The event also included keynote addresses
by Kabeer Naqvi, COO, UMicrofinance Bank, Sardar Abu Bakr, director strategy,
Telenor Pakistan, Yousuf Haroon, Director HR, Emaar Pakistan and Anna Faisal,
Executive Director Roots Millennium Schools.
Speaking on the occasion, Kabeer Naqvi
said, “The most important thing about building a career is that you should be
brave enough to take risks, be zealous and ready for rising up the ladder.” On
answering a question from the audience members on inclusion and equal
opportunity for people with special needs, Kabeer Naqvi announced that
UMicrofinance Bank will put in more focus to this area as part of their
organisation’s recruitment strategy.
“Do what you can in your career that is in
your control. The worst thing young professionals can do is that they give in
to external pressures,” said Abu Bakr whilst interacting with the audience.
Thanking the participants and guest
speakers at the occasion Anna Faisal reiterated her resolve to provide quality
education in Pakistan. She said“ The TMUC Chief Executive Faisal Mushtaq is
committed to make transnational undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional
education affordable and accessible to all students in Pakistan. We appreciate ACCA Pakistan for developing their
students for their professional journeys ahead.”
The ceremony ended with the award of
mementoes by the TMUC Dean of Academics Safia Farouqi to the guest speakers
followed by a group photo.
